BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:

The P QJ SUBSTATION & METER OPERATIONS ADMIN Department at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Management vacancy available. (Role: Professional Supervisor)

 

JOB FUNCTION:

Provides administrative, organizational, and financial analytical support to the Manager and Department. to achieve efficient and cost effective operations to meet the Strategic Transformation Plan and Goals.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Leads the development and implementation of projects with studies and benchmarking of substation assets to improve existing practices, procedures, programs, policies and training to support the department’s continuous improvement goals and objectives. Uses Lean Six Sigma methods and tools to identify problems, analyze information, and generate solutions. Uses Prosci ADKAR model to facilitate individual and organizational change action plans.
  • Conducts business process analysis to find technical solutions to meet department objectives. Develops business cases to justify new process change requests.
  • Provides analytical support for the department forecast (operating budget, inter-company billing, capital budget, and review of EPRI RD&D funds). Researches, compiles and organizes data, monitors expenditures, analyzes variance information, and develops cost tracking capabilities and unit costing to facilitate decision making.
  • Create, maintain and improve the knowledge base and tools established by the Department, including information management within the Department’s intranet site, SharePoint site, and database systems.
  • Performs special assignments as requested by the Manager and provides back-up support for the Department Administration Supervisor when necessary.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of the principles of performance metrics, accounting, business statistics, budgeting and forecasting methods normally acquired through advanced college level courses or equivalent experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of business management principles and practice normally acquired through college level courses or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of Lean Six Sigma continuous improvement principles, tools, trainings, process management standards and methodologies, including initiating, planning, scheduling, and executing processes as well as tracking of performance measures.
  • Working knowledge of Prosci ADKAR model and change management methodology.
  • Working knowledge of computer systems and related software applications including Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Ellipse, DARs, SharePoint, and other database management systems.
  • Working knowledge of department budgeting and forecasting processes including operating budgets, capital budgets, vehicle, equipment, capital tools, office furniture, etc.
  • Working knowledge of benchmarking analysis for substation assets in comparing department existing performance (e.g. PSE&G, UMS) against other utilities to recommend and adopt improvements for best practice, continuous improvement and culture.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in using PC software programs (spreadsheets, database, presentation and word processing) for fairly complex applications.
  • Knowledge of Company business systems, including but not limited to Ellipse, UI Planner, SAP, DARS, Filenet, preferred.

 

Skills Requirements

  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, planning and administrative skills. Ability to conceptualize new ideas quickly and develop appropriate action plans.
  • Working knowledge of performance metric analysis and reporting, and generally accepted accounting principles, normally acquired through college level courses or equivalent experience. 
  • Excellent written, oral, leadership, interpersonal, and presentation skills to effectively communicate within all levels of the organization and the public sector.
  • Demonstrated continuous improvement skills to identify improvement opportunities, lead improvement teams, develop and improve standard work, multiple systems, projects, and programs with effective solutions and exercise independent judgment and initiative within established policies and guidelines. 
  • Demonstrated analytical, organizational, planning, investigative, conceptual and administrative skills to perform a wide variety of advanced clerical and administrative duties, manage multiple projects and priorities, meet deadlines and achieve goals successfully in a demanding work environment with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to apply tact, courtesy, professionalism, and discretion when handling confidential, difficult and/or sensitive information.
  • Demonstrated responsibility for self-development and willingness to learn new skills by actively participating in Company-sponsored training, self-study, professional organizations or other educational means.

 

Experience Requirements

  • Several (3-5) years of analytical work experience or demonstrated ability preferably with data and/or projects.
  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant discipline (e.g. organization, business, engineering, accounting, information systems) or equivalent.
  • Certification as a Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent, preferred.
  • Certification as a Prosci Change Management Practitioner or equivalent, preferred.

Salary Range: The salary range for the Operations Business Process Analyst [Req ID 7222] position is 73,500.00 to 93,800.00. The person selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications.
