BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:
The P CJ FIELD SERVICES ADMIN Department of the P SUBSTATION & METER Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Management vacancy available. This position may be filled on Oahu, Maui, or Hawaii Island. (Role: Professional)
JOB FUNCTION:
Researches, coordinates, and provides technical and IT support for implementation of programs and projects and optimization of processes, and procedures for Substation and Meter Operations division. Works closely with the Director and supervisors to identify, assess, design, implement, measure, and monitor improved business processes to increase productivity and customer satisfaction and reduce costs.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Coordinates and facilitates division efforts to optimize processes, programs, and procedures. Besides identification of “best practices”, optimization will be achieved through integration of complementary software products, field work management systems, and credit and collection systems. Provides:
- Advanced support, materials, standard operating procedures (“SOPs”) and training of SAP and/or other work management capabilities to division personnel.
- Coordinates and facilitates the division efforts to maximize the consistent application of the SAP and other work management systems.
- Initiates research, benchmarking and consulting services with stakeholders to continuously improve on and streamline work processes, develop appropriate metrixes and measure performance.
- In consultation with the division management team and IT professionals, develops software testing procedures on company approved IT software capabilities, and implements testing process to ensure proper functionality of software.
- Facilitates change management efforts to effect timely implementation of software and operations functionality improvements.
- Consolidates, analyzes, and communicates with appropriate stakeholders performance statistics and work management process efficiency statistics to support division decision making on a daily basis. Leads and coordinates team members in developing methodology to streamline data collection and reporting requirements to benchmark against. Provides timely, accurate, and effective reporting on performance, goals, and metrics.
- Serves as a liaison to Internal Audit and IT department regarding division specific software to ensure security, and adequate controls are in place and programs are in compliance with corporate policies and procedures.
- Assists stakeholders and users in the development of appropriate reports to support rate case filings, and other regulatory filings. Also provides information for quarterly executive briefing and budget support. Facilitates discussions with stakeholders, users, and technical resources to support IT initiatives within the division to improve on workflow efficiency, and/or repository of information.
- Supports the coordination of technology to continuously improve and streamline work processes during emergency response situations and drills/training. Serves as a coordinator during Emergency response, or in other roles as assigned. May substitute for division supervisors during scheduled/unscheduled absences.
- Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of Work Management systems working knowledge of all remaining modules.
- Thorough knowledge of database management and security concepts and techniques normally acquired through college level courses or equivalent experience.
- Degree in Management Information Systems or similar, preferred.
- Working knowledge of personal computers and various software systems used by the division, such as SAP CIS, mobile field management systems, and budget/finance systems.
- Working knowledge of functional area policies, procedures and work processes.
Skills Requirements
- Ability to understand and apply report formatting and data structure.
- Effective written, oral, and presentation communication skills. Ability to speak to groups of various sizes and teach simple to complex skills and processes to individuals and groups.
- Technical writing ability to communicate and integrate functional and technical requirements for system enhancements, and for training personnel on the use of software applications
- Ability to relate effectively with others through strong interpersonal skills.
- Leadership skills and the ability to work with a variety of individuals to train users on various software applications
- Demonstrated ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
- Strong analytical, organizational, and conceptual skills to assess complex technical issues, and recommend and implement solutions.
- Must have or be able to qualify for State of Hawaii driver’s license in order to conduct field observations. Must meet the requirements for required driving positions as stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Company Drivers policy. These standards may be adjusted periodically to meet business or safety objectives.
Experience Requirements
- Several (3-5) years experience in the area of process analysis and optimization.
- Several (3-5) years experience in project development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and assessment.
- Several (3-5) years experience in supporting business operations.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for the WORK MANAGEMENT SPECIALIST [Req ID 8415] position is $75,000.00 to $95,700.00. The person selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications.
