BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:

The P ED SOFTWARE APPLICATION SVCS Department of the P SOFTWARE APPLICATION SVCS Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Management vacancy available.  (Role: Professional)

 

JOB FUNCTION:

Solely or through leading a team, designs solutions to meet business needs and improve business processes. Estimates the ITS’ cost and work effort to implement said solutions. Provides the functional and technical knowledge and expertise related to the specific ERP/EAM modules and solution as well as possess a broad and in-depth industry experience across numerous ERP/EAM implementations. Provides oversight of ERP/EAM system computerized processes. Identifying, defining and building business cases for leveraging the base SAP product, modifying/enhancing the ERP/EAM functionality; planning and directing all configuration, enhancements to existing business processes by creating a continuous improvement plan across various Finance (FIN), Human Resources (HCM), Supply Chain (SCM) and Work Management (WKM) functional modules including SAP cloud solutions; coordinating efforts in maintaining and updating the ERP/EAM systems functionality; development of business process integration plans; and overseeing and directing data exchanges between the SAP ERP/EAM system and other internal and external systems.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Lead the Companies to manage, enhance and upgrade the selected software with a minimum amount of customization beyond normal configuration of business rules, standardizing business processes within and between Companies. 
  • Responsible for all issues pertaining to ERP/EAM functionality and interoperability (ERP/EAM to the companies’ other internal systems). 
  • Coordinates and communicates on a corporate-wide basis all ERP/EAM Solution and processes to integrate with other Companies business processes and systems to ensure consistency across companies and process areas.
  • Serves as a liaison to Corporate Audit to ensure solutions and deliverables are 100% compliant with the project methodology and meet or exceed controllership and audit standards (e.g., SOX compliance). 
  • Works closely with stakeholders, users, and technical resources to facilitate cross-functional discussions for the following items: business process improvement and functional requirements gathering; proposing improvements to systems and business processes; dissecting business issues into their fundamental elements, and defining a solution which appropriately balances cost, risk, time, and performance.
  • Able to back up the Program Managers overseeing either the ERP/EAM Development Services or Functional & Configuration Services teams.
  • Support the functional design, technical design, development, and testing efforts by review of specifications, and analysis of trade-offs between high-cost customizations, desired functionality, and creative workarounds. 
  • Assist in the development of test scenarios for all testing activities and review resulting test scripts from system integrator. Works to ensure exhaustive list of necessary test scenarios are identified.  During upgrade go-lives, transition responsibilities to Business and System Administrators.
  • Oversee the creation of detailed business process and functional/technical requirements documentation. Develop and document cost and work estimates for system enhancements. Conduct review of detailed business process and functional/technical requirements documentation.
  • Assist in development and maintenance of business team tasks within the work plan.  Provide for quality control of Company work products.  Coordinate solution efforts with System Integration teams, project/enhancement consultants, and team leaders.  Account for status, time, and issue management and reporting. 
  • Remain available for both scheduled and unscheduled work. Said work is occasionally required outside normal business hours and on weekends.  Other duties as assigned.
  • Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of SAP ERP/EAM software and working knowledge of Daily Processing support, Business development, and Break/Fix support.
  • Working knowledge of project management principles, normally acquired through PMI certification, college-level training and/or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of the major elements of the electric utility business, especially in a regulated environment.
  • Extensive working knowledge of personal computers and/or servers and related software applications such as spreadsheets, word processing, database managers, and presentation and graphic software, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge of database management and security concepts and accounting and financial auditing techniques normally acquired through college level courses or equivalent experience.  Degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems, Engineering or similar, or equivalent experience required.
  • Advanced knowledge for all security administration risk, controls and compliance requirements for the SAP ERP/EAM.
  • Working knowledge of functional area policies, procedures and work processes.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/EAM software profiles and security access for programs and reports.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/EAM software table structures and functions.
  • Working knowledge of ERP/EAM software development standards.
  • Working knowledge of the forecast/budget process.
  • Advanced knowledge of other related systems that integrate with SAP.
  • Extensive knowledge of the principles of information, data and office technology management normally acquired through college level courses or equivalent experience.
  • Working knowledge of utility business, business and/or engineering principles & practices.
  • Extensive or advanced knowledge of one or more technical disciplines ranging from Unix, client-server/multi-tier, and/or workstation/PC/Internet/Mobile technologies and systems development.
  • Excellent understanding of application interfacing concepts, basic reporting and database development and support.
  • Ability to document and execute an integrated test plan and a user acceptance test plan.
  • Ability to translate business requirements into technical design and maintain comprehensive functional and technical documentation.
  • Ability to comply with, and contribute to, system configuration standards and guidelines.
  • Ability to identify system constraints or gaps in business requirements and effectively communicate issues/risks to the project manager in a timely manner.
  • Ability to help lead the resolution of moderate to complex defects, issues, and support requests.

  • Superior ability to design, configure and/or code, test, troubleshoot, and implement programs, stored procedures, forms, reports, interfaces, workflows, batch jobs, etc.
  • Advanced knowledge/familiarity with SAP and SAP related products/technologies such as Finance/Controlling, FERC, Consolidation, OpenText VIM, Material Management, Ariba CLM, Plant Maintenance, Project System, EHSM, Mobility, Payroll, Benefits, Time Management, SuccessFactors, Fiori, etc.  Able to advise on SAP upgrades/rebuilds, contribute to identifying tasks, issues, and risks. Strong awareness of overall system needs such as performance management, capacity management, availability management, etc.
  • Able to employ project/program life-cycle techniques (e.g., SDLC) in managing programming and/or analysis projects for both custom and vendor-supplied software.
  • Ability to design/develop databases within scope of projects.
  • Demonstrated workforce excellence skills related to collaboration, mentoring, learning, sharing, problem solving and delivering results; superior in-depth analytical, conceptual and technical skills to handle various complex projects and programs; ability to independently plan, direct and perform work for self and others.

 

Experience Requirements

  • Several (3-5) years of SAP ERP/EAM systems experience.
  • 6+ years experience in ERP/EAM business processes and/or end user functions (Finance, Human Resources, Material Management and Work Management).
  • 6+ years experience in project development, implementation, monitoring, evaluation and assessment of SAP based business solutions
  • 6+ years experience in the design, development and enforcement of security access and segregation of duty controls.
  • 6+ years in related ERP/EAM experience in the utility industry with increasing responsibilities or equivalent experience.
  • Extensive (7 or more years) programming/support experience in a computing environment (e.g., Unix, Windows, iOS, etc.) using one or more of the languages and techniques employed at the companies.
  • Extensive (7 or more years) analytical experience in simple to complex systems.
  • Demonstrated ability to mentor and guide the Lead Functional Administrators in their work.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for the Business Solutions Architect [Req ID 10035] position is $120,600.00 to $156,700.00. The person selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications.
