The P LC ELECTRIFICATION OF TRANSPORTATION Department of the P ELECTRIFICATION OF TRANSPORTATION Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Management vacancy available. This position may be filled on Oahu, Maui, or Hawaii Island (Role: Professional)

 

JOB FUNCTION:

Provides expertise, guidance, knowledge, and technical support of public charging station operation and maintenance to ensure high service reliability and operational safety by reviewing, analyzing, and monitoring all public charging EV stations, Tier 1 investigation and troubleshooting of Electric Vehicle Supply Equipment (EVSE) related issues, provides technical support for various operational teams for preliminary testing and repairs, and assisting drivers over station utilization. Performs duties according to established procedures as well as creates standard operating procedures and provides guidance to others.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Technical Services: Monitors EV charging station dashboards and various social media sites and webapp EV location maps to spot performance issues. Logs all issues discovered and works with required personnel to assign relevant issues to internal or external field resources for investigation and repair. Reports station uptime metrics and analyzes usage trends. Maintains site-level documentation of all service-related activities to include corrective and preventative maintenance reports. Coordinates with EV supply equipment and EV service provider contractors as needed. Initiates, manages, and closes internal and external operational workflows.
  • Resource Coordination and Material Management: Coordinates field repairs with internal resources, EVSE vendors, site hosts, and drivers. Logs repairs following Company process for internal and external communication, as needed. Works collaboratively with internal and external partners to uphold service agreements. Creates and maintains the spare parts inventory to be used by internal resources for service responses and preventative maintenance tasks. Request’s spare part proposals, track vendor invoices, and work with warehouse management to ensure materials arrive accordingly.
  • Communication and Customer Services: Provides advanced notice to the public about any scheduled or emergency repairs via email, and webapp EV location maps social media, and/or physical signage placed on the equipment and creates warranty repair proposals for EVSE manufacture. Post updates to websites, applications, and social media platforms informing customers of the current status of charging hardware on an as-needed basis. Captures customer feedback from e-mail, social media, phone calls, or in-person interactions and generates new trouble tickets as needed. Works cross-functionally to correspond with customers via e-mail, phone, or social media to help solve issues that arise while charging, and monitors and responds to customers via established processes. Assists members of the public using the charging stations, including providing instructions on equipment use and answering general questions about equipment functionality.
  • Equipment Testing and Commissioning: Assists with the commissioning process of new station installations throughout Hawaiian Electrics service territory. Tests chargers while using all means of access control (credit card, RFID card, and mobile application) as needed to ensure proper functionality.
  • Performs additional department-related responsibilities as assigned.
  • Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge Requirements

  • Advanced knowledge of customer services and asset management, preferably with utility experiences
  • Advanced knowledge of industry best practices to solve complex problems. Continuous improvement mindset and practices to take new perspectives on existing solutions.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers and mainframe systems and related software applications, i.e., spreadsheets, word processing, etc.
  • Ability to read and understand design schematics, construction documents, and technical repair guides.
  • Working knowledge of project management/coordination practices.
  • 1-2 years of experience working around mixed voltage system.

 

Skills Requirements

  • Works with a limited degree of supervision, with oversight focused only on complex new assignments.
  • Works with full proficiency in station monitoring, troubleshooting, customer services, and external repairs technical processes and procedures through job-related training and considerable on-the-job experience.
  • Good oral and written communication skills to manage a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders to effectively dispatch resources for station repairs and to provide customer services.
  • Explains difficult or sensitive information and works to build consensus.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide work directions to contractors.
  • Ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Ability to handle difficult and/or sensitive issues while using tact, courtesy, and discretion.
  • Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license. Must meet the standards for frequent required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy.

 

Experience Requirements

  • Several (3-5) years’ customer service experiences.
  • Several (3-5) years’ experience preferred with electronic preventive maintenance systems.
  • 1-2 years of experience managing assets.
