JOB FUNCTION:
Performs all work required of a journeyman Electrician Mechanic and in addition does electrical maintenance and wiring installation work requiring State Journeyman Electrician’s License.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Reads drawings, repairs and installs wiring, heating equipment, control systems, and communication systems.
- Makes up a schedule of wiring materials and equipment needed for jobs from plans, specifications and instructions on the job.
- Installs electrical equipment and apparatus for new capital construction projects, in addition to modifications or additions to existing plants.
- May operate boom/bucket trucks and other vehicles weighing over 26,000 lbs.
- Performs all work of the Electrical Mechanic, T223.
- Directs the work of personnel in lower classifications on any or all of the above operations.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Performs similar and incidental duties as required.
- Uses instruments of the trade.
- Works in all types of places under varying conditions.
- Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to identify and distinguish the difference between colors, including shades, hues, and tints. (for electrician related positions)
- Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver’s license. Must meet the standards for driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Driving Positions policy. These standards may be adjusted periodically to meet business and safety objectives.
- Must be able to obtain a Medical Examiner’s Certificate.
- Must have or be able to obtain a Commercial Driver’s License, Class B
- Must successfully complete the Company Job Sample Test
- Applicants who meet the following requirements shall start at the first step of the pay schedule and progress accordingly:
- Graduate of applicable Apprentice Program or equivalent training and experience; AND
- Must have a certified State of Hawaii Electrician’s license
- Applicants who meet the following requirements shall start at the Thereafter step of the pay schedule:
- Graduate of the Company Electrical Mechanic Apprentice Program or equivalent training and experience; AND
- Must have a certified State of Hawaii Electrician’s license
- Must pass Company Written Job Knowledge Test within 1 year (for progression to Sr. Electrician).
