JOB FUNCTION:
Responsible for developing various Investor Relations materials, including, but not limited to, quarterly announcements and dividend releases, quarterly earnings results slides, quarterly Q&A reference documents, monthly management reports, quarterly earnings press releases for HEI and ASB, quarterly market reaction memos, quarterly financial results presentations, investor presentations and other materials through research, monitoring, data gathering, analysis and recommendation. Project manages the production of the annual statistical supplement and the Investor Relations calendar. Participates in investor calls and meetings and tracks engagement with investors. Manages and maintains effective relationship with outsourced transfer agent and oversees the day-to-day operations of the transfer agent to ensure quality services for HEI shareholders.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
INVESTOR RELATIONS
- INVESTOR RELATIONS MATERIALS
- Responsible for developing various investor relations materials, including (i) quarterly announcement and dividend releases, (ii) quarterly earnings results slides, (iii) quarterly Q&A reference documents for executives, and (iv) the monthly management report to the Board of Directors. Under the direction of the Director, Investor Relations, also responsible for the development of other investor relations materials including (i) quarterly earnings press releases for HEI, (ii) quarterly market reaction memos for the Board, and (iii) investor presentations for investor conferences and other investor meetings.
- Conducts underlying analysis, research and data gathering to develop graphs and charts; provides project management and coordinates with operating companies on content and materials for investor audiences. Maintains source materials and backup data on server for reference.
- Analyzes data and develops charts and other materials for reporting on market perception and company valuation to senior management and the Board.
- Serves as the project manager in the production of the annual statistical supplement, including managing the production and coordination of information from operating companies.
- Provides project management and financial components of annual report to shareholders.
- ANALYSIS & RESEARCH
- Routinely monitors and researches stock and investor base.
- Proactively and independently monitors current events (company and external) and economic developments, and reports critical developments to the Director, Investor Relations.
- Tracks, analyzes and makes recommendations on analyst estimates and reports.
- Tracks Investor Relations practices of other companies.
- INVESTOR CALLS, MEETINGS AND TRIPS/CONFERENCES
- Organizes and prepares investor meetings and calls, including attendance at analyst conferences, non-deal roadshows and other trips (including registration, scheduling meetings, transportation, hotel arrangements and production of investor books).
- Tracks key issues of interest to investors and assists with follow up from investor engagements.
- Logs investor engagements (calls, meetings, conferences) in cloud software system, including topics discussed and other key information.
- INVESTOR RELATIONS CALENDAR AND WEBSITE
- Manages and maintains annual investor relations calendar and provides project management to ensure critical processes are on track.
- Manages the Investor Relations portion of the HEI website.
OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES
- SHAREHOLDER SERVICES / TRANSFER AGENT OVERSIGHT
- Manages and maintains effective relationship with outsourced transfer agent and oversees day-to-day services of transfer agent to ensure quality services for HEI shareholders.
- Handles or directs to transfer agent shareholder inbounds to HEI (whether via mail, email, phone) as appropriate.
- Tracks and reports metrics relating to transfer agent performance, shareholder activity and DRIP share demand to the Director, Investor Relations and collaborates with the Director, Investor Relations, legal department and transfer agent on any program changes.
- Tracks share issuances to ensure accuracy of HEI and outsourced transfer agent share accounting and reports share issuance information for financial reporting.
- OTHER DEPARTMENT MANAGEMENT
- Prepares, reviews and analyzes departmental budget.
- Assists with vendor management, including reviewing vendor performance in line with contracts, reviewing invoices, obtaining and reviewing SOC reports and ensuring annual vendor monitoring is conducted for critical vendors, including outsourced transfer agent.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge Requirements
• Bachelor’s degree in business administration, accounting, math or equivalent work experience.
• Understanding of financial concepts and ability to analyze and interpret financial data preferred.
• Understanding of capital markets and securities regulations preferred.
• Thorough knowledge of personal computers and related software applications such as spreadsheets, word processing and the ability to learn new software applications.
• Strong ability with PowerPoint software and ability to create and edit presentation slides.
• Basic accounting knowledge to prepare, review and analyze budgets is desirable.
• Knowledge of general business practices and policies.

• Excellent interpersonal, oral, written and listening skills to effectively communicate with all levels inside and outside of the organization, as well as convey complex information effectively and concisely.

• Ability to work with confidential information and maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to remain flexible in a demanding, fast-paced work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities; ability to work overtime and to be responsive over email and phone during non-business hours, including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays, especially during critical periods (e.g., earnings season).
