The P FD HR CLIENT SERVICES Department of the P VP HUMAN RESOURCES Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Management vacancy available. (Role: )
JOB FUNCTION:
Provides operational and analytical support to the overall operations of the HR Client Services department. Coordinates and administers a broad spectrum of Human Resource activities and transaction processing to positively affect internal and customer-facing processes, services, and communications.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
- Client Services Support
- Researches, analyzes information, and makes recommendations for first level employee relation matters. Completes assignments independently while ensuring consistency of processes and procedures within the department. Understands scope of services, researches basic to moderate-level inquiries, and escalates issues to appropriate next level of support, as needed. Uses a professional and customer-focused approach to ensure a quality customer experience.
- Develops, maintains, and reports activity in logs and tracking tools. Assists with monthly reporting to Corporate Compliance on investigations and performance management issues and resolutions.
- Recruitment Support
- Supports the complete recruitment process from initialization through hire and on-boarding. Screens potential candidates, in-person or by phone, for company-wide positions. Sources candidates through a variety of search methods such as: online sourcing, networking through social media, internal database, job boards, professional and user groups, company targets, referrals, etc. Facilitates contact between potential candidates and HR Business Partners. Manages staffing options for the Company’s varied job families; including options for temporary employment and contingent workforce (i.e. summer intern program, temporary employees, retiree workforce). Reviews HR trends and makes recommendations to respond proactively to concerns.
- Systems Administration.
- Maintains records in the HR systems, processes documentation, gathers data, and assists with information requests and overall department records management. Plans, schedules, and coordinates logistics for department programs, events, and activities. Assists in maintaining compliance with the Company’s employment testing program.
- Technology Support
- Serves as the Client Services department’s subject matter expert for all matters related to the HR systems utilized by the department to include updating and maintaining data as directed. Partners with assigned technical resources to test and resolve issues, modifications, and fixes to the HR system. Responsible for functional aspects of the HR system’s recruitment functionality, including managing issues and inquiries, leading routine record audits, implementing report requirements, and facilitating training to new users.
- Process Improvement
- Identifies continuous improvement opportunities to ensure policies, processes, and controls are designed, documented, and operating efficiently and effectively. Oversees data integrity of applicant selection information to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations as well as provides complete and appropriate information for audit and reporting purposes. Evaluates improvement options and identifies ways to meet customer and business needs.
- Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response. Other duties as assigned.
BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:
Knowledge Requirements
- Thorough knowledge of human resources obtained through completion of a Bachelor’s degree program in Human Resources Management or relevant work experience.
- Professional Human Resources certification a plus.
- Working knowledge of employment laws and regulations.
- Working knowledge of human resources principles and practices.
- Working knowledge of personal computers and related business software applications (e.g. spreadsheets, word processing, databases, presentation graphics, etc.).
- Basic proficiency in the use of a wide range of audio-visual equipment (e.g., voice and video conferencing equipment).
- Knowledge of the basic principles of collective bargaining agreements.

- Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver's license. Must meet the standards for required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy.
Experience Requirements
- Several years (4+) of Human Resources experience or general office experience in working in a fast-paced organization.
- Human Resources experience in a large organization is highly preferred.
