JOB FUNCTION:

Supports and advances Hawaiian Electric’s commitment to being a company of and for Hawaiʻi by designing, coordinating, and implementing initiatives that foster culture, inclusion, belonging, employee engagement, and learning. Administers enterprise learning operations and systems, manages recognition and engagement programs, plans events and onboarding experiences, administers educational assistance, and supports organizational effectiveness programs.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Culture, Engagement & Employee Experience
    Leads and supports initiatives that foster an inclusive, engaging, and values-driven workplace. Responsibilities include coordinating culture, inclusion, and belonging efforts; partnering with ERGs; championing EVP and cultural messaging; administering rewards and recognition programs; and planning and executing employee experience events such as onboarding activities, Employee Appreciation Month, and organization-wide gatherings
  • Learning, Development & Organizational Effectiveness
    Supports enterprise learning and development programs and organizational effectiveness initiatives, including but not limited to managing learning program logistics; coordinating facilitators and instructors; overseeing training delivery and attendance tracking; administering the learning management system (LMS); conducting system audits; onboarding and supporting LMS administrators; and managing educational assistance, OE programs, and Toastmasters.
  • Program Operations, Systems & Stakeholder Support
    Provides operational and administrative support across people and learning programs. This includes maintaining program documentation and records; coordinating mentor programs; collaborating with IT/CSIS and other internal partners; ensuring systems, processes, and reporting function effectively; and providing ongoing support to stakeholders.
  • Budget, Vendor & Resource Management
    Manages financial and vendor-related activities in support of people programs, including budget coordination, procurement and requisition preparation, vendor relationship management, and monitoring spend to ensure alignment with program goals.
  • Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge Requirements

  • Technical knowledge of PC-based word processing software; and working knowledge of other personal computer systems and related software applications, including PC-based spreadsheet and data management software (i.e., word processing, spreadsheets, presentations, database management, front page, etc.) and operation of audio/visual equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of general office procedures and practices.
  • Strong understanding of organizational culture, employee engagement, and inclusion strategies.
  • Working knowledge of event planning, program management, and internal communications.
  • Familiarity with recognition platforms and employee experience tools.
  • Knowledge of Hawai‘i’s cultural landscape and community values preferred.

  • Ability to lift and move objects (e.g., training materials, audio/visual equipment) up to 20 pounds.

 

Experience Requirements

  • Several years (3–5 years) in OD, HR, engagement, L&D; LMS experience preferred

Hiring Range: The hiring range for the Organizational Development Specialist [Req ID 10292] position is $71,100.00 to $88,800.00. The person selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications.
