BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:

The P XB ENERGY CONTRACT ADMINISTRATION Department of the P RENEWABLE ACQUISITION Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 2 Management vacancies available. This position may be filled on Oahu. (Role: Professional)

 

JOB FUNCTION:

Provides department support with administrating Power Purchase Agreements (“PPA”) and/or policies with Independent Power Producers (“IPP”) for Hawaiian Electric on Oahu, Hawaii Island, and Maui County. Manages the computerized systems and data to effectively manage power purchase projects from conceptualization/inception through negotiations, approvals, construction, commercial operation, and closing of projects. This includes tracking progress on project onboarding, costs, and budgets; analyzing each project’s meter data and performance metrics; complying with PPA requirements; reconciling PPA invoices; and developing summary reports for downstream stakeholders, while maintaining compliance with all required processes (e.g., SOX). Develops, manages, and enhances project processes, PPA spreadsheets (e.g., invoicing, checklists, etc.), and data analytic tools. Develops, documents, and trains on project management procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Contract Invoice and Payment Reconciliation

  • Analyzes project meter data and performance metrics. Reconciles invoices, assists with resolution of discrepancies, and processes payments in accordance with contractual agreements and internal deadlines. Tabulates costs, prepares and submits invoices, processes payments received, and updates accounting records for projects or contracts.  Issues monthly purchased power data to various end users in the Company. Enhances invoicing processes to streamline and automate monthly activities.

Operational Data Management

  • Manages the division’s data and systems, ensuring timely retrieval and transmittal of critical data in accordance with contractual agreements and internal deadlines.  Develops tools to analyze and visualize data. Develops and maintains procedure documents. Supports and completes all yearly audits ordered by Finance and/or Corporate Audit.

Project Management Support

  • Develops, manages, and enhances project processes in order to meet project deadlines and PPA requirements. Supports division activities including managing project costs, obtaining authorizations, submitting PUC reports, etc. Leads, directs, and manages project teams to ensure that projects are completed on time and in accordance with key milestone schedules. Coordinates with Energy Contract Managers for updates to project schedules and reporting of schedule variances.

Department and Division Support

  • Support priorities for the Energy Contract Administration Department. Develops, implements, and administers policies and procedures to support Division’s mission and vision and corporate goals and priorities.
  • Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, Statistics, Mathematics, Engineering, Data Science, or related field.
  • Knowledge of software applications such as MS Excel, MS Word, MS Project, UI Planner, SAP, SQL, statistical programs (e.g., Python, R), visualization tools (e.g., Power BI), etc.
  • Knowledge of Hawaiian Electric cost reporting and budgeting process.

 

Skills Requirements

  • Ability to handle difficult and/or sensitive issues while using tact, courtesy, and discretion.
  • Excellent written and oral skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence, motivate and persuade various groups or individuals.
  • Ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Ability to conceptualize new ideas quickly.
  • In depth analytical and computational skills to analyze and recommend changes to database programs and processes to effectively manage projects. Ability to code using Excel macros, visualization software, or statistical programs to automate and streamline tasks.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Ability to handle highly sensitive/confidential matters and materials discreetly and professionally.

 

Experience Requirements

  • A few (1-2) years experience utilizing project management techniques.
  • A few (1-2) years of office experience in legal and/or administration areas.
  • A few (1-2) years of analytical experience with large datasets and analytical or visualization software (e.g., Excel, Python, R, Power BI, etc.)

Hiring Range: The hiring range for the Project Analyst [Req ID 9687] position is $78,000.00 to $93,800.00. The person selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications.
