BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:

The P VM MATERIALS MANAGEMENT Department of the P SUPPORT SERVICES Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 3 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. (Role: Non-Exempt)

 

JOB FUNCTION:

Issues, receives, credits, stores, stocks, services, salvages, loads and unloads materials, tools and equipment.  Operates Company vehicles to pick up materials and/or make deliveries.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • Receives, issues, stocks, stores, loads and unloads materials, tools and equipment.  Marks or tags parts, material, equipment and tools for identification; handles requisitions and records.
  • Utilizes various office equipment such as copiers, facsimile, adding machine/calculator, computers and related software, printers, etc. to perform the duties/responsibilities of the position.
  • Has full knowledge of all tools and equipment in tool room.  Keeps tool room neat and clean.  Makes minor repairs to tools and equipment.
  • Segregates returned material for reclamation/scrap; strips, cleans and reassembles reclaimable materials; returns usable material to stock; handles credits.
  • Operates vehicles to pick up materials and make deliveries.  Drives Company vehicles over 26,000 pounds GVW, including vans, trucks, forklifts and material handling equipment; moves and connects trailer equipment.  Is responsible for the vehicle and proper loading/securing of material in accordance with applicable laws.  May be required to deliver Line trucks and trailers and other vehicles between baseyards.
  • Gasses and checks oil, radiator, battery water and tire pressure of cars, trucks and other equipment; keeps necessary records.
  • Keeps warehouse and storage areas, tool room, building and parking areas neat, clean and orderly.  Keeps tools and equipment in good order.
  • Makes tool and truck inspections.  Assists in taking annual physical inventory at Waiau, Ward, Koolau and other warehouses.
  • Relieves higher classifications as required.
  • Applies Company’s safety standards and other applicable rules and procedures.

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs similar and incidental duties as required.
  • Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Must pass the Edison Electric Institute (EEI) Support & Administrative Selection System (SASS) test.
    • Note: Employees who have taken and passed the Mechanical, Numerical and Verbal Sections of the Differential Aptitude Tests do not need to take the SASS.
  • Must pass Job Sample Test.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish the difference between colors, including shades, hues, and tints. (for electrician related positions)
  • Must be able to lift items such as grounding shunt weighing up to 60 lbs.
  • Must have or be able to obtain forklift certification.
  • Must pass Company Job Proficiency test after one year.
  • Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii Commercial Driver’s license.
  • Must be able to pass Bureau of Motor Carriers physical examination.
