BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:

The P IT TRAVELING MAINTENANCE Department of the P GENERATION Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Bargaining Unit vacancy available. (Role: Non-Exempt)

JOB FUNCTION:

Arc and gas welds various materials involved in the installation of power plant apparatus.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

• Knows properties and weldability of materials commonly used in power plant apparatus.
• Is qualified under Boiler Code of State of Hawaii to arc weld carbon steel in power boilers and piping without back-up rings.
• Performs both low pressure and high-pressure welds in all positions.
• Works from blueprints, sketches and written or oral instructions.
• Arc and gas cuts steel and non-ferrous alloys. Arc and gas brazes and silver-solders steel and non-ferrous alloys. Heats machine parts for shrink fits.
• Follows any welding specification, including preheating, postheating, and chipping.
• Helps mechanics or machinists to set up jobs for welding or cutting. Lays out and fits pipe or steel for welding.
• Occasionally performs mechanic work as assigned.
• Directs the work of personnel in lower classifications on any or all of the above duties.
• Does concrete work including the construction of forms, installation of steel, cement finishing of new capital construction projects, in addition to modifications or additions to existing plants.
• Assume an emergency management role, as assigned, and perform specific assignments or functions, as needed, in an event of an emergency, not to include routine trouble calls/callouts.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Performs similar and incidental duties as required.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

• Ability to identify and distinguish different colors and color hues required.
• Graduate of Welder Apprentice Program or equivalent training and experience.
• Must be certified under ASME Code.
• Required to maintain welding qualifications as prescribed by the ASME Code.

Work Hours: 6:00 am - 2:30 pm

Lunch: 30 minutes

Location: Honolulu  – Oahu

Wage: $54.27 – $54.27
