The M HB FACILITIES OPERATIONS Department of the P FACILITIES & SECURITY Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 1 Management vacancy available. (Role: Non-Exempt)



Administer Facilities Maintenance programs covering the assessment, procurement of parts/materials, maintenance and repair of facilities and facility support equipment.



  • Assess, plans, coordinates and monitors maintenance and repairs of buildings and support equipment.  Coordinates scheduling of routine maintenance and repairs for all facility support equipment with the facilities coordinator.  Analyzes structural and operating opportunities, and coordinates with contractors to address warranty and non-warranty deficiencies.   Reviews daily work orders, addresses minor non-licensed preventative maintenance, corrective maintenance and completes all necessary documentation.
  • Purchase materials and supplies required to perform building and ground maintenance.  Coordinate purchase requisitions with the facilities coordinator. Ensures invoices and receipts are accurate after receipt of materials. 
  • Escorts contractors during site visits to collect data associated with proposals for maintenance and repairs.  Assists the Facilities Maintenance Supervisor to oversee and evaluate construction projects to ensure safety is a top priority and scope of work is within the required specifications.
  • Appropriately utilizes office equipment such as workstations/laptops, related software applications, copy machines, etc., to perform duties/responsibilities of the position.
  • Oversees reconfigurations of office areas, cubicles and relocations of office equipment and furniture.  Assists with moving and transporting office furniture and supplies.
  • Serves as a liaison with other departments for facilities maintenance activities.
  • Travel to other islands within the state of Hawaii in support of the company’s facility maintenance programs.  Responds to departmental emergency callouts 24/7.  Works outside of normal business hours to administer the facility maintenance programs and projects.
  • Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.



Knowledge Requirements

  • Working knowledge in reading and interpreting blueprint drawings.
  • Working knowledge of general building maintenance and repair techniques acquired through work experience.
  • Working knowledge of general building and grounds preventive and corrective maintenance.
  • Working knowledge in the use of hand and power tools.


Skills Requirements

  • Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver’s license. Must meet the standards for frequent or required driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Required Driving Positions policy. These standards may be adjusted periodically to meet business and safety objectives.
  • Ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to influence and persuade various groups or individuals.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as member of a team


Experience Requirements

  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in general building maintenance.
  • Minimum of two (2) years’ experience in managing large projects, preferably in the construction industry.
