BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:

The Dispatch Department of the System Operation Division at Hawaiian Electric Company - Maui County has one (1) Bargaining Unit vacancies available. (Role: Non-Exempt)

JOB FUNCTION:

Monitors and coordinates all planned and unplanned activities on the distribution system.

 

FUNDAMENTAL RESPONSIBLITIES:

  • Outage and Distribution System Management -
    • Receives and coordinates Company response to trouble and service calls from Company customers.
    • Troubleshoots and identifies issues affecting electrical service to customers.
    • Directs field personnel to address trouble calls, repair orders, distribution power outages and emergencies, and power restoration mitigation and system repairs.
    • Operates and monitors distribution electrical devices and components using the Energy Management System (EMS) and other applicable tools. Responsible for accurate modeling of system device statuses.
    • Tracks field resource assignments and work locations.
  • Communications -
    • Provides outage information to internal stakeholders.
    •  Operates various equipment including 2-way radio console to communicate with field personnel.
    • Coordinates repairs with various departments and/or external customer electricians.
    • Communicates directly with customers.
  • Record Keeping -
    • Maintains trouble call records, repair orders, SAP work orders, interruption reports, operation logs, scheduled distribution work, crew allocation and system device status.
    • Issues, receives, and acts upon routine or scheduled “Limited Holdoff” (LHO) requests on distribution circuits and/or equipment.
    • Compiles and maintains system data for system investigations and reporting.
  • Utilizes Company computer applications and databases including but not limited to the Energy Management System (EMS), Network Management System (NMS), Geospatial Information System (GIS), work management system (SAP), Customer Information Systems (CIS), Customer Outage Notification System (CONS), and other Office applications. Will also utilize system electrical drawings and schematics.

 

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Performs similar and incidental duties, as required.
  • Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned.

 

FUNDAMENTAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • Ability to identify and distinguish different colors and color hues required.
  • Must pass the SRA Oral & Written Directions Test.
  • Must pass the PSP System Operator/Dispatcher Test.
  • Must successfully complete the company job sample test.
  • Must successfully complete the Trouble Dispatcher Development Program within twenty-four (24) months of start/transfer date into the position.
  • Applicants who meet the following requirement shall start at the first step of the pay schedule and progress accordingly:
    • Completion of one of the following Company Apprentice Programs: Lineman Apprentice, Control Operator Training or equivalent training and operating experience.
  • Applicants who meet the following requirement shall start at the second step of the pay schedule and progress accordingly:
    • Graduate of Troubleman Apprentice Program. (Troubleman or Primary Troubleman)

 

Other Requirements:

  • Must be available to work rotating shifts, including nights, holidays and weekends on a system operating 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
  • Must be available for overtime work outside of their regular business hours.

Work Schedule: Rotating shift schedule to provide 24 hours, 7 days per week coverage

Work Hours: 24/7 rotating shift

Lunch: Shift

Location: Kahului Base Yard - Maui

Wage: $53.91/hr
