BRIEF POSTING DESCRIPTION:

The P YP PSED PLANNING Department of the P POWER SUPPLY ENGINEERING Division at Hawaiian Electric Company has 3 Management vacancy available. (Role: Professional)

 

JOB FUNCTION:

Develops SAP architecture and One Company Generation work planning for the power generating stations, to ensure reliable operation in compliance with regulatory and legal requirements.

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

  • SAP Architecture Development
    • Executes the development of new or enhanced SAP architecture, including but not limited to functional locations, maintenance plans, task lists, job plans, and bill of materials.
    • Provides feedback on the prioritization of short-term tasking to maintain system reliability as well as, resource and time estimates for long-term tasking to improve asset reliability.
    • Works with One Company stakeholders, as directed, to standardize SAP architecture across multiple islands and counties.
  • Generation Work Planning
    • Collaborates with other departments and divisions to validate and execute updates and improvements to functional location, maintenance plans, job plans, and bill of materials of existing assets to ensure reliable operation for the remaining service life.
    • Validates and implements changes to existing SAP architecture, as an integral part of the feedback loop, to continually expand management of existing assets.
    • Provides input and feedback, as requested, on the Generation reliability program to support recurring reliability meetings and individual projects.
  • Work Management
    • Evaluates and measures assigned work and adjusts time and resource commitment, as needed, to ensure completion. 
    • Participates in and develops continuous improvement events to standardize and improve work management processes. Provides input on key performance metrics to monitor work processes ensuring alignment with stakeholder and customer expectations and goals.
    • Updates a high-level schedule to reflect overall priority of work efforts with multiple customers and stakeholders.
    • Supports two-way communication to ensure a focused and aligned workforce.
    • Promotes teamwork, reinforces and mentors peers in the application of improvement tools, techniques, and behaviors to expose and eliminate waste from daily work assignments.
  • Participates in Company emergency response activities as assigned, including any activities required to prepare for such emergency response.

 

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge Requirements

  • Working knowledge of boilers, turbines, generators, and related auxiliary equipment or equivalent related to operation and maintenance or large assets.
  • Working knowledge of power plant operations and maintenance or equivalent.
  • Working knowledge of personal computers, computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS) and related software applications (i.e., SAP, spreadsheets, word processing, work order management system, scheduling system, etc.)
  • Understanding of warehouse operations such as researching inventory and ordering in-house materials.
  • Working knowledge of ordering equipment and material.
  • Working knowledge of LEAN continuous improvement principles, procedures, tools, and desired behaviors.

  • Strong facilitation and interpersonal skills to create teamwork between staff, internal and external customers and stakeholders.
  • Strong job planning skills, including estimation, task sequencing, and resource allocation.
  • Ability to effectively communicate to all levels of personnel (internal/external customers and stakeholders), both in written and verbal communications.
  • Ability to remain flexible in a demanding work environment and adapt to rapidly changing priorities.
  • Demonstrated ability to conceptualize and problem-solve.
  • Ability to handle difficult or sensitive issues while using tact, courtesy, and discretion.
  • Must have or be able to qualify for a State of Hawaii driver’s license. Must meet the standards for driving positions stated in the Hiring Standards for Driving Positions policy. These standards may be adjusted periodically to meet business and safety objectives.
  • Effective process management skills to organize resources and activities to improve and integrate work processes.
  • Excellent organizational skill to give input to short- and long-term work.

 

Experience Requirements

  • Multiple (5-7) years of related maintenance and operational experience in an electric utility or equivalent with CMMS integration, asset management, and reliability.
  • Several (3-5) years of related experience in preparing operating budgets and managing expenses.
  • Few (1-3) years of experience in project management is desirable.

Hiring Range: The hiring range for the Resource Planner [Req ID 10197] position is $87,400.00 to $111,500.00. The person selected will be placed according to his/her skills and qualifications.
